Buttermilk Waffles
Buttermilk Waffles
Yield: 4 waffles | # of Servings: 4 | Difficulty: Easy |
Ingredients
1 cup (4.65 oz / 132 g) all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
¼ tsp baking soda
¼ tsp salt
1 egg, room temperature
1 cup buttermilk, room temperature
5 tbl (2.5 oz / 71 g) butter, melted, but not hot
Maple syrup, as needed
Fresh berries, as needed
Special tools and equipment needed:
- 1 Belgian waffle iron
Pre-recipe preparations:
- Bring egg and buttermilk to room temperature
- Plug in waffle iron
Directions
- In medium mixing bowl, stir the dry ingredients together.
- Beat egg in small mixing bowl. Add buttermilk and melted butter and whisk together.
- Make a well in the center of the dry mixture. Pour in the buttermilk mixture and mix until just combined. The mixture will be thick.
- If waffle iron hasn’t been used in a while, spray lightly with a regular release spray.
- Scoop ½ cup of batter into each waffle grid. Close the top and cook until no more steam is emitted from the waffle iron, and a quick peak reveals well-browned waffles, about 6 to 7 minutes.
- Remove and continue cooking remaining batter.
- Serve with warm maple syrup and fresh berries.
