Simple Syrup

Basic Simple Syrup has a multitude of uses, from sauces, to moistening sponge cake layers, to cocktails.

Simple Syrup

Yield: 1 ½ cup# of Servings: 12

Ingredients

1 cup (8 fl oz) cold water

1 cup + 1.5 tbl (8 oz / 227 g) sugar

Tools and equipment needed:

  • 1 small saucepan
  • Liquid cup measure, scale or dry cup measure plus tablespoon measuring set

Directions:

  1. Place sugar and water in saucepan and stir to combine, being careful not to get sugar granules on the sides of the pan.
  2. Over medium heat bring to a boil.
  3. Simmer for 30 seconds to make sure all the sugar is dissolved,
A bowl of milk and a glass of water.
